Now is a great time to spotlight the people behind your camp magic—staff. Sharing staff stories helps build a stronger sense of community with your camper families, shows gratitude, and reinforces the importance of their work. Triple win.

How to Celebrate Staff Through Stories

  • Start with a list. Identify staff to feature and don’t forget to highlight seasonal staff!

  • Ask questions. Help them share their stories with these prompts:

  • The Basics: Their role at camp, number of years they’ve been involved, etc.

  • The History: The camp they attended, their favorite activity or meal, something special about their camp experience.

  • The Insight: Why is camp so important to them?

  • The Quirky: A fun fact or piece of trivia people would love to know.

  • Share photos. Include their favorite snapshots from camp to bring their stories to life.

Ways to Share Staff Stories

  • Social Media Guessing Game: Post a childhood photo of a staff member along with their story, and ask the community to guess who they are and their current role at camp.

  • “Why We Love XX” Spotlight: Share why the camp community is grateful for a staff member (use a specific example to highlight their role at camp, e.g., their famous BBQs or awesome trip planning skills) alongside their story and role.

  • Before-and-After Camp Makeovers: Share a story with pictures about how camp has transformed a staff member’s life.

Sharing these stories is a simple yet impactful way to show gratitude to your staff and connect camper families with the people who work tirelessly to care for their kids. Let’s celebrate success with stories—it’s what camp is all about!
